Crew aiming to get back in win column at Colorado

Soccer Betting Lines

06/04/2010 - Commerce City, CO (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Columbus Crew take their first two- game winless streak of the 2010 Major League Soccer season into Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Saturday night where they will take on the Colorado Rapids.

The Crew (6-1-3) are coming off a 2-2 draw in a mid-week clash at San Jose, and are hoping for a positive road result just three days later after showing positive signs following a lackluster effort at home against the Los Angeles Galaxy on May 29, a 2-0 loss.

"We have the mentality [that] we should win every game, but we'll look back on it and say [that] a point on the road isn't a bad result," Crew midfielder Robbie Rogers told mlssoccer.com. "I wondered how the guys would react to the first loss of the season. I thought everyone did a really good job."

The crew actually felt they should have come away with the full points against the 'Quakes.

"We thought we should have gotten three [points] out of the game," Crew attacker Eddie Gaven told mlssoccer.com. "We played well enough to get them, but at the same time we'll take one point on the road."

The Rapids (5-3-1) are coming off a 1-0 decision over Seattle Sounders FC at home on May 29.

The Rapids find themselves in a decent position in the standing even though they are in the bottom third in goal scoring, something that can be attributed to strong defense lay so far this season. But for the Rocky Mountain club to take the next step, it is going to have to find a way to score more goals soon.

"We're going in the right direction," Rapids forward Conor Casey said after he scored the only goal in the Seattle game.

Coach Gary Smith is also optimistic after his club's most recent fixture.

"There was a lot of discipline and determination but we could have been out of sight in those first 10 minutes," he said. "There is a long way to go but we got another home result on the back of a very good away win."

For the Rapids to be successful on Saturday night, they are going to have to find a way to win without defender Kosuke Kimura, midfielder Ciaran O'Brien and forward Ross Schunk, who are all out with injuries. Defender Julien Baudet and midfielder Jamie Smith are expected to be available with knocks.

The Crew will be without defenders Frankie Hejduk and Danny O'Rourke because of injuries as well.

Terrell Owens could return for Cowboys next game
A bye week will allow Terrell Owens broken hand to recover just in time for the next game the Dallas Cowboys are slated to play, according to reports. MySportsbook.com, an football sportsbook, has posted football betting lines on TO playing.

Owens broke the bone leading to his right ring finger Sunday night and had a plate surgically attached to it Monday. Although Owens' hand was swollen and aching Wednesday, Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells said he's optimistic the receiver will be back at work next week and catching passes a week from Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

MySportsbook.com online sportsbook listed Terrell Owens with odds of 7-2 (or $7 paid out for every $2 bet) to return back for the game against Tennessee.

"I certainly wouldn't rule it out now," Parcells said, referring to Terrell Owens immediate return. "Maybe five days from now I might, but I wouldn't rule it out now. ... I know we're looking to try to get him moving around pretty good in the next day or so. So we'll see where we are."

Owens did not speak with reporters Wednesday, but said Sunday he'd be out two to four weeks. A return against the Titans would be 13 days after the surgery. The Cowboys were listed as an early -7 1/2 favorite vs. the Tennessee Titans for Week 4 at MySportsbook.com

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Odds

Will he or won't he?  Now that the Dallas Cowboys have a new head coach in Wade Phillips, the big question will be: Does Terrell Owens stay with the team.

Jerry Jones continues to suggest that Terrell Owens will remain with the team.

"I've said that he's back, he's here, he's under contract," Jones said. "In the interviews I've just been through (to hire a new coach), it was very clear to me how highly he's thought of and how much of an impact he had on our offensive success."

Just to be sure though, Terrell Owens cleared out his locker and removed his name plate.

Terrell Owens was among the Cowboys most productive players this past season, catching 85 passes for 1,180 yards and a league-best 13 touchdowns.

But T.O. is due a $3 million roster bonus in June, then a $5 million salary this season. Cutting him before then would save a lot of money and headaches.

Aside from the questions surrounding Terrell Owens, the oddsmakers at MySportsbook.com have concerns over starting quarterback Tony Romo's state of mind and whether he will remain a starting quarterback.  It is also not known how players will adjust to new head coach, Wade Phillips.
